Lutheran Parish in Cieszyn - one of co-organizers of Tercentenary celebrations - issued an invitation letter in German language.
Teschen is the German name of a town in Central Europe, now divided into the towns of Cieszyn in Poland and Český Těšín in the Czech Republic. One of the significant memorabilities in the Polish part of the town is a magnificent Lutheran church building - called Jesus Church or Grace Church.
The construction of the church was possible thanks to the assistance of the Swedish king Charles XII. Despite severe religious persecution, which Protestants faced in Habsburg lands, the church became a center of the pietistic revival. It also played crucial role in the early history of the Moravian Church. Thus the Jesus Church in Teschen entered into the history of the world missions.
During the years 2009-2010 there will be various events celebrating the 300th anniversary of the church.
